“I will not be another flower, picked for my beauty and left to die” – Erin Van Vuren
FIZIWOO latest collection for Spring Summer 2018 has taken inspiration from the moving stories of wartime female victims during western invasion in Asia. ‘Comfort woman’ is a term used during the western military presence in Asian countries describing woman who were forced into sexual servitude in wartime military brothel.
Taking in context of the 1970’s and the challenges faced by the woman in the era; FIZIWOO has interpreted its collection incorporating 1970’s fashion styles with the essence of old philosophies taken from Samurai Feudalism and Confucianism which has been the strong fundamentals of women in Asian society. The mixture of soft and structured fabrics symbolizes the soft nature of a woman in facing the hardship of life during wartime; which self-reliance is necessary in keeping themselves alive.
